The comeback of the Swiss band Flame Dream a year ago was a positive surprise for many prog fans, as it had been thirty-eight years since their last release (1986). ‘Silent Transition’ offers melodic-symphonic prog and was largely well received; the band and album were also featured in Eclipsed at the time. Now the band is releasing the vinyl version, and with a running time of over an hour, of course only a double LP was an option. In order to make optimum use of the vinyl medium, the original order of the tracks was changed: The almost seven-minute ‘Signal On The Shores’, originally the fifth song, was moved up to number two, but this does not detract from the listening pleasure. With a weight of 180 grams, the decision was made in favour of the optimum by today's standards, and the very good sound quality has remained. There are no different colour versions, but even so, the double LP in a gatefold sleeve is a real eye-catcher. Incidentally, the first four Flame Dream albums will soon be re-released as CD digipaks. And who knows, maybe one day as vinyl.
